Enhanced Antibacterial Activity of Piper betle Extract Niosome Serum Gel and Its Irritation Effects

Masks are personal protective equipment essential for COVID-19 prevention, but the use of masks has led to an increase in severity both acne (maskne) and rosacea (mask rosacea). Long-time mask-wearing can acne’s flare by modifying cutaneous facial microenvironment triggering dermatoses. To minimize this, skin needs be protected using antibacterial product. This study aimed develop determine effect Piper betle extract niosome serum gel its irritation effect. 5% was formulated into a system incorporated with varying concentrations 30%, 40%, 50%. The characterized particle size, Polydispersity Index (PI), zeta potential, pH value, then evaluated physicochemical properties preparation. Further, against Propionibacterium acne, Staphylococcus aureus, epidermidis tested well-diffusion test. preparation stability freeze-thaw methods, test assessed HET-CAM (Hen’s Egg Chorioallantoic Membrane) method. results showed that good physicochemical, while best inhibition zone diameter 7,29±0,21; 7,77±0,12; 8,24±0,40, P.acne, respectively. However, significant change had no on CAM. It concluded potential impact especially P. acne.
